as for snape? i'm not quite sure. i've never liked snape, but there are many characters that i don't like that are not inherently evil. however, there are so many theories out there as to why snape killed dumbledore, that i don't know what to think. one theory i heard was that dumbledore, when he said "please" to snape, was asking him to kill him, because all the crap that he drank when they thought they'd found that thing (what was it called?) was poison, and was killing him anyway, and it was a mercy killing.

the other is that snape was under an imperius curse. there were lots that were.

then again, maybe snape is just a backstabbing bastard, and really did want dumbledore dead, and wanted the glory that draco would have gotten otherwise

I have an odd feeling that Snape will end up giving his life to save Harry or one of the other "good guys." We've seen Snape and Harry pitted against one another since the beginning. Every time Harry was certain Snape was the bad guy, it turned out that Snape was trying to help. Even with the turn of events in the 6th book, I think we'll find that Snape was acting on Dumbledore's orders. At least, that's what I hope.

I don't think Snape is really a bad guy. He does have some strange motives, but I think he cooked something up with Dumbledore before D's death, or so we think :) wink. He is just doing double duty and will redeem himself in the end.
