sewing accomplishment and another purchase

Since I pooped my poor puppy out by taking her on a long walk tonight, I was actually able to unearth my sewing machine! While Phoebe was napping downstairs, I've been busy working on my Civil War dress. I got the cuffs sewn on the sleeves and the sleeves sewn to the bodice. I've still got to press the cuffs back and handsew them down on the inside, but the bodice is nearly done. It's now happily residing on my dressform instead of being buried in the pile on my sewing desk. Pictures will follow soon.

My other purchase of the weekend (besides stuff for my secret pal) has been a ball winder from joann.com. I couldn't resist! They had a 50% off coupon! And if I don't end up using it, I can always trade it away on the knitty boards.

Off to watch either Singin' in the Rain, Apollo 13, or Star Wars Ep.1

Bad Carin....

Went to the LYS to pick up the Debbie Bliss Cashermino Aran that I'd ordered to knit up Tempting and some needles for my mom. Then what do I spy on the new arrivals table but....Lorna's Laces!!!! I've been drooling over this yarn online but have been hesitant to drop $30/skein when I've never felt it or seen the colors in person. Felt it, saw it, loved it,...bought three skeins to make Clapots for my mom for Christmas. Gah! So much for not buying anymore yarn until I got some stuff done. I got the Tuscany colorway and I think my mom is going to love it. Plus I'll get the added joy of knitting with some gorgeous yarn.

Off to shower now and run errands!

a little more

No new pictures, but I did get a few things done knitting wise in the last couple of days. Namely, turned the heel on my first sock of the Knitpicks Stargazer Lily sock yarn. I'm loving the way this yarn works up the varigation. Pictures once this sock is done.

And I finished the other front piece of my Kyoto. That just leaves the sleeves, the collar, and to finish the sash. I think I'll block the back the two front pieces this weekend, then I can work on the sleeves while that's drying. Block the sleeves while I'm seaming the body together and doing the collar. Then I can seam those on and complete the sash. Dang it! That's more work than I thought I had left. And I was feeling so accomplished.

I had to set aside Clapotis for a while because Kyoto wasn't making any progress. Think I'll treat myself the rest of the night and work on that and my sock while I'm trying to stay awake and watch movies. Stupid night shift. *grumble*

bead stitch shawl pic and some new knitters!

Was finally able to get a pic of me wearing my mohair shawl. Here I am in the "needle nook" at my LYS. The store owner was nice enough to take this for me at the last sit and knit.
