Christmas present #1 done!

Finished my mom's Christmas present on Friday night. And I know that she promised she wasn't going to look at my blog between now and Christmas, but I'm going to play it safe and not post any pictures or anything about what it is until after she gets it. The ladies at SoP and sit and knit know what it is and they'll get the see the finished product a week from Thursday. But until then everyone else will just have to be content with my tally of one down, two to go.

Dad's present is coming along nicely, but it's hard to work on at night since the lighting in my living room stinks. Maybe if I sat on the sofa instead of the recliner....

And may I just say that Titanium Rose's Halloween bash on Saturday was excellent. Wish I could have stayed longer, but I had a Sunday morning commitment. I'll post pics of the knitters that made it whenever I feel like hauling my camera upstairs.

Off to knit some more and watch either Voyager or Netflix or both.

It's about time...

...for me to be making a post. Things have been crazy with work and real life, but I'm back.

The trip home was pretty uneventful. The pup got to see a lawnmower up close for the first time and spent about half an hour outside barking at my dad as he mowed the lawn.

And the colors were gorgeous. I live in a pretty new neighborhood so the trees are pretty small and tend to drop their leaves overnight. But the huge oak and maple trees around my parents place were beautiful.

And I finally got my Hatmione blocked for the hat contest at SoP. It doesn't make my head look like a pencil eraser anymore, but trust me that it did before a good healthy blocking. And I finished the Gryffindor PoA scarf as well. This thing is huge. It's probably a foot across and almost 7 feet long. If I don't wrap it around my neck it hangs to my knees and I'm no tiny thing. My first foray into duplicate stitching was putting my initials on the end and I don't think they turned out too badly. Now I can beat off all the little kids on Halloween and at the movie opening that say I stole their scarf by showing them my initials.

I'm slowly slogging away at Christmas presents. Had my friend Sarah tell me the other day (when we were giving each other present ideas), "Or you could just knit me a shawl." Did I listen to any of her other present suggestions? Of course not. I went out and bought yarn to make her the Fibertrends Falling Leaves shawl. She might not get it by Christmas, but she'll at least have it by the time I visit her in February.

Road Trip!

Off to visit the parents I go. Here's hoping that the pup won't get carsick the time. I've had her a little over a year now and there's not one long car trip that I've made with her that she hasn't yakked all over her kennel at least once, but usually more like four times. And that's with giving her Dramamine! So I'm off! See you all Sunday night!

hatmione or pencil eraser?

I just finished my hat for the the hat contest SoP is having this month. It's the cable/bobble/braid hat the Hermione wears in PoA. However, I can't decide if it looks good on me or makes me look like a pencil eraser is on top of my head. No pics yet. I still need to block the thing.

Need to get to work on my HP scarf....only one and a half more repeats left. Then I'll go on to the mittens that match the hat if I have time before GoF is released.

Also need to get my butt in gear on Christmas presents. And cast on another pair of socks to knit on at work. I've got an orientee and that makes my nights pretty boring since she does most of the work.
