Keeping Me in Stitches

another FO...

...but no pics yet. I was so pooped on Easter (had to work the nightshift and got off work in time to change clothes and go to church) that I forgot to have my parents take pictures of me with the mohair shawl. I'll have to remember my camera for the sit and knit on Thursday and have one of the ladies take a picture.

I love the mohair, but it'll be a long time before I work in something that fuzzy again. Frogging or tinking was unthinkable if you let the stitches set for more than 30 seconds. It's wonderfully warm and allowed me to wear a spring dress a little earlier than I would have, but it sheds like nobodies business. I got to share my wonderful mohair experience with anyone who came within 5 feet of me. Felt like I should have been carrying around a roll of tape or one of those lint rollers to offer to anyone who talked to me and walked away with cream colored fuzzies all over themselves. But it's done. Yay!

Moving on...the second Koigu sock now has a heel and about ten rows done up the leg. Thank goodness for boring nurse residency lectures that allow me to get some knitting accomplished.

Went to the LYS after the lecture and bought more Koigu for socks. Bad Carin! Must stop lining up more projects than I'll finish in the next ten years. Must work on Kyoto and start on Clapotis. Gah!

really starting to despise...

...my mohair shawl. It sheds all over me, whatever surface I'm sitting on, plus it needs to have another 10 inches knit on it by Sunday if I want to wear it for Easter. Seeing as how my wrist feels like someone's been smashing it with a ballpein hammer, this may or may not happen.

To break up the exquisite mohair episode, I decided to knit some more on Kyoto. But after reading the knit-a-long thread on the knitty messageboards, I decided to stop where I was on the sash and start the endless stockinette. Lovely. I'm maybe 2 inches into the back piece right now. And may I just say how much I love my Denise set. It was so nice to just push the sash down onto the cable, twist the needles off, and pop the little end caps on so I could move on to another part of the sweater. Very nice.

An FO, three WIPs, and the stash

Finally hauled my camera out of my purse to take pictures of all the stuff I've been meaning to. Here they are...

First up is my French Market bag before felting...

...and after.

And looky how much it can hold!!

That's 6 skeins of noro silk garden and 12 balls of mystik. I could probably squeeze more in, but decided to stop there.

My first sock and the start of the second out of Koigu.

Baby blanket I made for my friend, Angela.

The epic monster begun over two years ago and still waiting to be finished. I just unearthed it from the bag it's been languishing in and fell in love with it all over again. Cascade's Lana d'Oro is beautiful yarn.

Close-up of the mohair shawl for Easter (I hope!) Still need another foot and a half at least.

Some stitch markers I threw together with some leftover Christmas present money.

And finally....the stash!!!

No pictures yet of Kyoto (out of the Mystik) and don't even ask me about the clapotis (noro silk garden). I spent way too much money at the LYS this weekend. Bad Carin...no more yarn for a while. Well...except for that Cashmerino that I ordered to make Tempting out of. Oops!

An old FO - Kristi's hat

Here's a couple pics of a hat I made a friend for Christmas.

Ignore the comb and hairdryer in the background. For some reason, I took pictures with this hat sitting on my bathroom counter. I can't remember the situation, but I'm going to chalk it up to sleep deprivation.

Edit #2: Got some help from the ladies on the knitty messageboard so here goes another try with posting the pictures.
Here's the top of the hat.

No pics yet

Parents just left this afternoon and I've been lazing around the house. Got my market bag turned in at the LYS while I was out shopping with Mom yesterday though. Also bought some yarn to make her one for next Christmas. I'm not thrilled about the colors she choose, but since it's what she wanted, I kept quiet.

I've knit another 8 inches or so on the shawl. I think if I keep it in my room and knit a repeat or two before I go to sleep, then I might get it done for Easter.

And I successfully turned the heel on my first sock! It wasn't as hard or as time-consuming as I thought it would be. Just need to finish the top now so I can start on the other one and be able to wear them at least once before the blistering heat of summer hits.

And no pictures yet. I didn't feel like taking any since I hadn't really accomplished much. But now I really want to make Tempting from the knitty.com site. And in a bunch of different colors too. Bad Carin, bad!

updates...still nothing done

I've just been working a little bit on all of my projects. Nothing's done yet. Here's the status list.

French Market Bag: done, but still need to take pictures before I drop it off at the LYS tomorrow for the felted bag competition.

Mohair shawl: actually pulled it out of the suitcase it's been languishing in for the last two weeks and knit about another 6" while RotK played in the background.

Koigu sock: Note the singular. Started to turn the heel at work last night, but had to stop and get the rest of my "real work" done before the shift was over.

Ripple afghan: Swiched it over to my Denise needles and knit another repeat of the pattern. Haven't really decided if I like the Denises or not. I like the lightness of them, but I'm going to have to get used to the stitches not sliding as easily.

Lana D'Oro fisherman's sweater: Pulled it out of the bag for the first time in over two years and fell in love all over again. But I still need help with it. It's still going to be a good long time before this one's done. Really need to make myself a chart or better instructions.

Knitpick's Stargazer Lily socks: Still just sitting in the drawer as three little balls waiting patiently for me to finish SOMETHING so they can take their rightful places on my feet.

Plan on taking some pictures of both my FO and WIPs this weekend since I got my camera charge back up. I'll put up the link next week.

turning time

Almost ready to turn the heel of my first sock out of the Koigu yarn. Thought it was going to be scary, but after reading the instructions, it doesn't seem that bad. Might actually get that done tonight while I watch Iron Chef.

Should work on my mohair shawl too so that can be done in time to wear for Easter. We'll see.

In other news, I cleaned out my old nightstand drawers and it's ready to haul downstairs and become my new knitting stand. A way to keep all my precious yarn away from Phoebe's little puppy teeth since she's already proven untrustworthy when tempted by wool.

getting started

Decided to jump on the bandwagon and start a blog just for my knitting and sewing stuff. Or maybe just for my knitting...we'll see.
