Not gonna be there...

I'm sorry in advance to everyone I told I was going to be at the Debbie Stoller book signing today. I'm not going to be there. I've got to get everything moved out of my townhome and then get it cleaned before I work this weekend. That's going to take all day today after I sleep, then part of the night, then probably most of tomorrow as well. I'll see you all at SoP for sit and knit.

A little late...

...but better late than never. I completely missed my 1-year blogiversary back at the beginning of March. If I knew then where I was going to be (both in my life and with my knitting) one year later, I may have laughed.

On the moving front, I've got 8 days to clear out the townhome and do a light cleaning of the place. Yes, Mom, I know that I need to do more than a light cleaning of the bathroom and that will get a more complete one. So tomorrow/today (after I've slept in other words) I'm heading over there to pack up as much stuff as I can fit into my car and try to do at least two trips and get all the little stuff that's left over there.

If I've got time, I may also go to SoP just to get some away time for myself, but that probably won't happen. We'll just have to wait and see.

Phoebe is loving the new house and the fact that there are bunnies in the backyard. But those little cottontails are smart buggers. They know exactly how long Phoebe's tether is and sit about 4 feet beyond it just to torture her. I'm going to give them a surprise this weekend and let her out one time without the tether. See how the little fuzzballs deal with that!

It's neverending....part 2

I would like nothing better than to leave everything that's over at the townhome there and let the staff there worry about it when my lease is up in two weeks. I won't....but I'd like to. I'm to the point that I'm sick of doing loading up the dishwasher with yet more dishes....sick of doing yet another load of laundry....sick of moving in general. And I've survived this past week without all the stuff that's still over at the townhome. That should tell me something....like that I've got way too much stuff for one person and wouldn't miss it if I ended up throwning half of it away. Hmmm...that's an idea.

Easter was fine. My first Easter not spent with the parents and by myself. Seemed like any other Sunday that I'm not working really. I didn't get my dress sewn...heck, I didn't even get the fabric out of the bag since I bought it. Guess it'll have to be a new summer dress instead. I just wore the dress that I sewed 2 years ago instead and found out that I was actually able to fit in it and that it was impossibly even a little TOO big. Kinda nice. I like being able to judge my size by how my clothes fit instead of by a scale.

The knitting is progressing slowly. I've been working on Brienna's baby blanket while watching season 4 of Charmed and it's been going pretty quick. I've almost got a foot done on it now, but I'd better pick up the pace or she's going to pop before I get it off the needles.

Jaywalkers are doing a little better with progress. I've got the heel turned and just need to pick up stitches for the gusset on the second sock.

I'll see everyone Thursday at SoP (except for you Jen!).

getting settled

This past Saturday was a whirlwind. With the help of about 6 people from church, the majority of my stuff made its way from the townhome to my new house. This included quite the adventure involving the boxspring to my bed, a roll of Saran wrap and a Toyota Vibe.

Also got the living room furniture delivered from the Mart. And after it was delivered I made the discovery that not all of it would fit into my living room. So the loveseat made its way to the basement. I have said goodbye forever to the orange/rust flowered confection that was my old loveseat, to the two old endtables that belonged to my parents but had a huge amount of storage under them and to the awful lamps that I got at a garage sale for $20.

My bedroom went from looking like this.

To the final finished product with all the furniture in place.

I've done almost no knitting. Just a few rounds on my second Jaywalker sock, a pattern repeat on the baby blanket for a coworker, and a single repeat on Branching Out. Although I did make sure that my stash was the first thing to be moved to the new house.

Now I'm really feeling the urge to get myself a spinning wheel. There's just so much room at the house I feel like I need to fill it up. I'm leaning towards an Ashford. Either the Traveller or the Joy. All of you spinners out there, help me decide!!

It's neverending...

Back to the house with a carload of stuff and to do more painting and vacuuming. I'll see everyone at SoP tomorrow night.
